Types of Building Signs

Cabinet, dimensional & storefront signs

Different buildings call for different builds. These are the four we quote most for exterior walls.

Illuminated Cabinet & Lightbox Signs

Illuminated Cabinet & Lightbox Signs

Cabinet signs, the classic lightbox, remain the workhorse of exterior building signage: an aluminum cabinet, LED illumination, and printed or routed faces that carry your full brand in one clean rectangle. They are the most cost-effective way to get a large, bright sign on a wall, and faces swap in minutes when you rebrand. We build single- and double-face cabinets in any dimension your code allows.

Every cabinet leaves our shop with UL-listed LED systems, serviceable access, and drain paths that keep Midwest weather out. La Quinta and Beardstown Therapy Clinic both run our cabinets, and both were faced, wired, and lit in a single install day.

Dimensional Letters & Logos

Dimensional Letters & Logos

Dimensional letter signs give a building the architectural treatment: individually cut letters and logo marks in acrylic, aluminum, or foam-core composite, mounted on studs with precise standoff. Non-illuminated dimensional letters read sharp all day and cost meaningfully less than lit sets, which makes them the smart pick for offices, professional buildings, and interior-lit facades.

We cut from your vector artwork, pattern the wall, and set every letter level and true. The Plaza’s blade-sharp black dimensional set is ours, template to torque.

Storefront Signs

Storefront Signs

Storefront signs have one job: stop foot traffic. We design storefront signage packages that work as one composition: the main ID sign, window graphics, hours lettering, and blade signs where code allows, all matched to your brand. Boutique or franchise, the goal is a front that reads clearly at walking speed and photographs well for every customer’s social feed.

If you are opening your first location, our design team will tell you honestly what your budget buys and where each dollar shows. If you are location forty, we will match the other thirty-nine.

Rebrands & Sign Refacing

Rebrands & Sign Refacing

Rebranding is where building signs get expensive if your first sign company did not plan for it. We reface cabinets, re-skin channel letters, and replace dimensional sets across single sites or whole footprints, on schedules that keep every location consistent. Valvoline’s crisp red facade came through exactly this process.

Multi-site operators get one point of contact, one spec document, and photo closeout per location, whether the sites are across town or across the country through our install network.

Good Questions

Building Signs FAQ

How much does a building sign cost?
Non-illuminated dimensional letters start around $2,500 installed; illuminated cabinet signs typically run $4,000 to $12,000; large illuminated letter sets and custom builds range higher. Every quote is a fixed written number on your exact sign.
Cabinet sign or dimensional letters: which should I choose?
Cabinets deliver the most lit area per dollar and the easiest rebrand. Dimensional letters read more architectural and cost less when non-lit. We will proof both on a photo of your building so you can see the difference before spending anything.
Can you put a sign on any building material?
Yes: brick, block, EIFS, metal panel, and glass each get their own engineered mounting method. We document wall condition and sealing so your landlord and inspector are covered.
How long does a building sign take?
Typically 3 to 6 weeks from approved design to install, including permits. Refacing projects often turn around in 1 to 2 weeks.
Do you handle multi-location rebrands?
Yes. One spec, one contact, photo closeout per site, executed by our crews locally and our vetted install network nationwide.
